There are several statistic tools out on the web.
- Mint
- Google Analytics
- webEdition pageLogger (for webEdition CMS users)
All of them share one problem. They count you as a visitor. To overcome this when using Firefox there is a simple solution.
Just change the version informatin Firefox sends and you can filter yourself from the statistics.
How it works
- Open Firefox
- Enter
about:configin the adress bar - Search for
general.useragent.vendorSub - Change to a version number that does not exist
This won’t work for Mint. It will record you regardless of whether it detects a valid user agent or not. There is a Preference that allows Mint to ignore your visits though. There’s also IP filtering in the auto-Mint file which achieves the same thing.
Thanks Shaun for your input. The point I wanted to make here was to use a user agent that does not exist as a number. It will be tracked but you will know that you have been visiting the site.
Thanks for you comment. The design is by Michael Heilemann (www.binarybonsai.com).
