SmartTools

When I started being an information architect in 2006 the first application to create wireframes was Microsoft Visio. At that time version 2003 didn’t have all the nice features as it does today. However, still today some really helpful features are missing. Since I do know VBA programming I started to create some additional features and also gathered some from the web (and extended some). I’m probably not the only one in need of these features, so here the are in a single file called SmartTools.vsd.

  • Copy shapes to the same position on another page
  • Copy a page within a document or to another
  • Create table of content with linked entries
  • Format all pages in DIN A3, A4
  • Change zoom for all pages to 100%, 50% (if you work with the setup provided in the file this is very helpful)
  • Work with layers as in photoshop (unfortunately not as easy but it works)
  • Export pages to jpg

  1. Hi Peter
As I said, I gathered code from the web. The credit is in the visio file so everybody will now evertime the file is used and distributed elsewhere.

  2. Hi Michael,

I am interested in downloading the SmartTools visio macros but received a ‘page not found’ error when I tried to do so. Is this set still available?

    Thanks, Mark
